Keppel win swamp barge contract

Keppel Offshore and Marine has been awarded a $25 million contract to build a swamp barge for PT Apexindo Pratama Duta Tbk.

The contract for the swamp barge Yani is the third contract PT Apexindo has awarded to Keppel.

Keppel has previously received orders from PT Apexindo for the construction of the swamp barge Raisa, and for the repair and refurbishment of the swamp barge Maera.

The Raisa was recently launched on 22 October. The Maera is three months into its six month refurbishment.

Construction of the Yani will take eight months, with delivery scheduled for May 2003. It will be deployed for TotalFinaElf Indonesie in Tuni Field, East Kalimantan for three years.

Construction of the 68m swamp barge will involve detailed engineering, fabrication and procurement as well as installation of the owner's supplied completion. The barge will have a drilling depth capability of 25,000 feet.
