BJ gets flush with Kazakhstan

BJ Process and Pipeline Services (BJ PPS) has won a contract to provide lube oil flushing and critical nitrogen/helium leak detection testing services for a process centre at the massive Karachaganak Field Development Project.

The contract was awarded by Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B. V. A large onshore gas-oil-condensate field, the Karachaganak Field is located in northwest Kazakhstan near the city of Aksai, with reserves estimates at 1.2 billion tonnes (8 billion barrels) of oil and gas condensate and 1.35 trillion cubic metres (48 trillion cubic feet) of gas.

The KPO consortium – consisting of BG Group, Eni, ChevronTexaco and LUKOIL - has a production sharing agreement with the Kazakh government to enhance production, which in 2001 totaled 3.75 billion cubic metres of gas and 4 million tonnes of condensate.

The project is being serviced by BJ PPS personnel from the company’s base in Dubai, UAE. The two-year contract, which is already underway, is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
