CHC Helicopter suffers second-quarter loss

DESPITE higher revenues, Canada's CHC Helicopter Corp - which provides helicopter transport services primarily to the offshore energy industry - posted a loss in the second quarter on Monday, as discontinued operations inflicted a C$17.3 million net loss.

The company has agreed to sell its CHC Composites unit and two non-core units of the Schreiner Aviation Group that it bought this year.

Revenue in the quarter was up C$52.6 million to C$225.3 million. Net earnings from continuing operations in the quarter were C$16 million, the same as in the second quarter a year earlier.
