BP boss pay rise angers UK unions

News of a substantial increase in pay for BP boss Lord Browne has angered sections of the British...

His basic pay rose from £869,000 to £1.2million and he was given a performance bonus and expenses. "Some fat cats are bigger than others, but this one is clearly the biggest," one senior union official said.

Despite union consternation, BP defended the rise saying Lord Browne was "worth every penny" and the company needed to pay top dollar in order to attract and maintain executive talent.
