The forum will be the annual National Conference of AMPLA - the Resources and Energy Law Association.

Issues due to be thrashed out include some of the unique problems facing the emerging renewable energy sector such as wind farms, and developments in directors' liabilities and corporate governance law and practice.

Ms Suzanne Reintals, National President of AMPLA, said other discussions to be addressed over the next two and a half days would no doubt address the new legal regime for billion dollar petroleum projects in the Timor Sea and negotiating lucrative contracts for the supply of Australian energy to China and better management of the different legal regimes that trading companies faced.

Guest speakers on the agenda include the former Chairman of ASIC, Alan Cameron; Professor Bob Baxt, former Chairman of the Trade Practices Commission; international arbitrator, Professor Michael Pryles, and Pat Brazil, the former head of the Commonwealth Attorney General's Department.

The Conference will be opened by South Australia's Energy Minister, Mr Pat Conlon, at 8.30 a.m. Thursday morning.
