The 4.5-liter ELF CNG-DI won its gold medals in the efficiency and emissions categories. The silver was for in the vehicle noise category … or the lack of it, to be more precise. The contest is seen as the premiere world competition for environmentally friendly advanced technology vehicles.

The ELF is also the only vehicle in its class to rank under Japan's ultra stringent Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV) category.
