SKM recorded some two million hours of construction on the project without a lost time injury and with preserving that record in mind, established the Senior Executive Safety Forum, aimed at reinforcing safety as one of the Sinclair Knight Merz Group's core values.
"We have to make sure that the individuals that are supervising, constructing and operating our engineering designs can do so safely, returning home to their families each day without harm," Chief Executive, Paul Dougas said.
"Safety in Design is one area where we can use safety to gain a market edge and differentiate ourselves from our competitors," he said.
"We are keen to ensure that this initiative is a major success," Dougas concluded.
Sinclair Knight Merz kicked off the Safety in Design review process with a working session held in Perth, led by Principal, John Armstrong, who has played a significant role in formulating the firm's approach to safety on major mining construction projects in Western Australia.
