African breakthrough for McConnell Dowell

In what amounts to a big breakthrough for McConnell Dowell in Africa, the Australian-based construction company, along with Grinaker-LTA and Consolidated Contractors International SAL, this week signed an official contract award with Sasol Ltd for the $US250 million Mozambique to South Africa Gas Pipeline

African breakthrough for McConnell Dowell

The formal contract is for the engineering, procurement, management, construction and commissioning of the 865km gas pipeline and follows Sasol's Letter of Intent announced earlier this year.

The gas pipeline will traverse from the Temane gas field near Vilankulo in Mozambique, and cross the border into South Africa where it will feed into Sasol's Secunda petrochemical plant and then tie into the existing pipeline network to Sasolburg and Gauteng.

This pipeline is part of a US$1.2 billion natural gas project initiated by Sasol Ltd and the governments of South Africa and Mozambique.
