CNOOC is still awaiting permission from the Chinese central government for the green light to construct the offshore pipeline. If it is a go, construction should be completed in 2005 and will help fuel the economies of both Macau and Guangdong.

The Panyu Field has estimated recoverable reserves of around 1.5 trillion cubic feet although development of the field has been estimated to cost around US$500 million.
