ExxonMobil hoists for sale sign over WA retail operations

Mobil's retail petrol operations in WA will be no more after parent ExxonMobil said it would be closing its 20-odd facilities on the west coast to protect its market share on the eastern seaboard.

ExxonMobil hoists for sale sign over WA retail operations

Mobil share of the retail petrol spend has suffered at the hands of the Coles Myer and Woolworths discounted fuel strategies and has jettisoned the WA business to protect the bigger markets in the east.

Mobil is the second fuel retailer in WA to exit the market so far. The Wesfarmers-backed Kwik Fuel wound back its roll out plan earlier this year after deciding it was not profitable.

Mobil's Kwinana distribution and storage terminal, as well as its 18 petrol stations in the Perth metropolitan area, are understood to have been put on the market.
