New ship boosts Indonesia's support sector

Indonesian shipping and offshore support services provider PT Rig Tenders, is planning to buy a $US7.73 million accommodation vessel from China's Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Ltd. This vessel, with a capacity for 250 people, will be used to meet the expected growing demands for oil and gas companies operating in Indonesia.

New ship boosts Indonesia's support sector

Rig Tenders has already had a show of interest in the 5,100 metric ton vessel with China's CNOOC hoping to use it as an accommodation and support services structure for its Java Sea operations.

The ship will be built in China and is expected to begin operations in 2004. Rig Tenders currently has three accommodation vessels but has around 29 boats, which contribute almost 98% of its total revenue.
