Viet Nam study endorses benefits of gas transport fuel

The Oil & Gas Institute of the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Corp has announced that - according to the results of a three-year study - motorbikes and cars that use gas instead of oil have less of an environmental impact than their petroleum-burning counterparts.

The institute's vice director, Nguyen Xuan Dinh, says that, according to the research data gleaned by the institute, vehicles that make use of gas generate 80% to 90% less emissions than their petrol and diesel-guzzling brethren. Furthermore, it does this at 70% of the cost of fuel.

The study, which was launched in 2000, is still awaiting official approval. The Oil & Gas Institute conducted its tests using commercial gas for motorbike and automobile engines.
