Sparrows wins Vietnam contract

As part of the $US1.3 billion Nam Con Son Gas Project involving BP, Petro Vietnam, ONGC and other partners, Sparrows Offshore Services Australia has been awarded a contract by BP Vietnam to supply resident Lifting Materials Specialists to BP's new Lan Tay facility offshore Vietnam.

The contract also covers full engineering and technical support from Perth, as well as the provision of spare parts and a dedicated rigging loft.

"For some time Sparrows has been discussing the expansion of the traditional crane operator/maintainer role on small to medium size offshore facilities. This contract represents the culmination of that initiative," said Sparrows Business Area Manager, Ben Finlay.

"This contract represents the culmination of that initiative. The role includes all crane operation and maintenance activities, lifting gear examination and distribution, HLO and emergency response duties, and control of all materials on and off the platform."

"This contract fits in well with the recent strategic initiatives being pursued by Sparrows in several key offshore markets around the world," said, Sparrows managing director, Ken Scott.
