In a statement IBP said, “[We have] a Memorandum of Collaboration with Petronet for transporting LNG imported at Dahej, Gujarat to customers using specialised cryogenic bullet trucks.”
“Using technology from Chart Inc of the US, IBP’s cryogenic trucks will move natural gas at minus 160 degrees Celsius to plants where through a simple vaporising process plant it will be converted into gaseous form for use as feedstock,” it added without elaborating further.
According to Petronet CEO and MD Suresh Mathur, “India [will] be the second country after Japan to use cryogenic bullet trucks to transport LNG.”
The statement ignores the fact Australian firm Energy World Corporation has been transporting LNG by truck for some years for its Central Australian operation.
