Four killed in Korean oil factory explosion

Two South Koreans and two Pakistanis working at a Neo Energy Korea oil factory have been killed in an explosion. Three others, two of them from Pakistan, were injured in the blast which occurred in Pyeongtaek, 70 km from Seoul, South Korea.

The Yonhap news agency, citing an anonymous police officer from the Pyeongtaek Police Station, reported, “The explosion took place at 5:10 pm when the workers were supplying fuel to a plastic tank from a five-ton oil tanker at Neo Energy Korea in Pyeongtaek.”

“The two South Korean workers, identified as Choi Kyung-il, 34 and Kim Dae-kyung were killed on the spot. The Pakistanis were identified only as Ali, 29 and Pashal, 23.

The injured, one South Korean and two Pakistanis, were immediately sent to a nearby hospital, but the Pakistanis are in critical conditions. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation,” added the officer.
