Pakistani pipeline bombed

Reports in the Pakistani media indicate two bomb blasts have damaged a section of a Sui Southern ...

In a statement Sui Southern spokesman Amjad Javed said, “Gas supply was disrupted but an alternative pipeline [will] supply the two cities until maintenance work is completed.”

According to Pakistani police spokesman Sikandar Mangi, “The blasts took place simultaneously near Goth Sarhandi, a village about 200 kilometres northeast of Karachi. [We are] still investigating the attacks [and] nobody has claimed responsibility so far.”

While the authorities have yet to name any suspects, government pipelines are often targeted by Pakistani tribesmen looking for expansion of royalty payments for resources discovered within their tribal lands.
