Technip lands large subsea contract

ITALIAN oil major Eni has awarded Technip an encompassing €500 million to €1 billion ($A763 million to $1.53 billion) subsea contract for the Jangkrik project located about 70km off the coast of the of Makassar Strait, Indonesia.

The contract firstly covers engineering, procurement, commissioning and installation of 36km of flexible risers and flowlines, 195km of pipeline and subsea equipment including mid-water arch and flowline end termination.

The work also includes the installation of 51km of umbilicals, five manifolds and seven subsea isolation valve structures and associated flying leads.

The contract further involves EPC of an onshore receiving facility including pig traps, metering systems and utilities.

Completion is targeting the first quarter of 2017 with the 4-inch to 14in diameter flexible pipes to be made at Technip's facilities in Malaysia.

"This contract is an excellent example of Technip's capability to propose competitive solutions for large and complex projects which combine onshore and subsea scopes.

"It confirms the relevance of our strategy of vertical integration to provide best-in-class solutions to our clients' projects."

In February Eni awarded a $US1.1 billion ($A1.2 billion) EPC and installation contract for the planned Jangkrik field floating production unit to a consortium of Saipam, Hyundai, Tripatra Engineers & Constructors and Chiyoda.

The FPU is designed to have the capacity to process 450 million standard cubic feet of gas per day along with an undisclosed amount of condensate.
