"As we are continuing to face regulatory obstacles on all of our pipelines, we're looking at alternatives to springboard off our existing asset base and growing our business in less prescriptive environments," Ms Ortenstone told an industry conference.
Ms Ortenstone said the company was reviewing several proposals based on its key strengths of building and operating pipelines and one of these proposals includes focusing on mid-stream markets such as gas gathering. "It is still a pipeline business but it's not regulated," she said.
The company would also look at offshore pipelines for the oil and gas industry. "We have some expertise in-house for offshore, so we would look at that, and we are actually talking to a few people but we don't have any specific projects at this point," Ms Ortenstone said.
Epic Energy is currently waging a battle with WA independent gas regulator over tariffs for the company's Dampier to Bunbury natural gas pipeline. A decision from the court is expected in about a month.
