Orchard founder passes away

The death of founding managing director of Orchard Petroleum, Stephen Warrener, was announced this morning by the company.

Orchard founder passes away

The 52-year old had been battling an illness for up to six months, and was thought to be in remission until very recently.

Warrener's passing is all the more tragic as Orchard has seemed to have turned the corner in its US-based exploration, posting its first discovery last year, after a few hard years with little success.

"The Board wish to record their profound appreciation for Mr Warrener's significant contribution to the Company since its inception. The Directors extend their sincere condolences and sympathy to his family," said the company.

Non-executive chairman, Steve Graves, who has been fronting the company in recent times will assume the executive directors position, based in California where Orchard's assets are located.

The Orchard board also announced the appointment of Chris Bowyer as Company Secretary. Bowyer is based in Melbourne.
