"Look, up in the sky ... it's VicPet"

AFTER taking only 99 wells to chalk up his first commercial discovery, Victoria Petroleum’s managing director John Kopcheff seems to have raised his sights, or at least that’s what one of the latest bumper stickers in Perth’s western suburbs alludes to.

"Look, up in the sky ... it's VicPet"

“Earth first - we’ll drill the rest of the galaxy later,” says the text, with an outline of the continental US liberally sprinkled with drilling derricks.

John (the driller formerly known as Dry Hole) Kopcheff is a relentless marketer of his company, which recently significantly increased its US interests (hence the continental American outline on his sticker). The Flour Bluff project in Texas seems to have posted a winner for VicPet and partners Sun Resources and Aurora Oil and Gas.

Kopcheff said the sticker was a light-hearted reaction to those always putting the oil and gas industry in a bad light.
