Tyringa-1 is about six kilometres south-west of the Spencer oilfield, three kilometres north-east of the Pintari North Oil Field, and 40 kilometres west of Moomba. It is also located roughly 10 kilometres south-west of the Kiana-1 oil and gas discovery announced last week.
Tyringa-1 will test the oil potential of the Namur Sandstone, the Hutton Sandstone and the Patchawarra Formation within a simple anticlinal closure. Its planned total depth is 1972 metres and the well is expected to take about 14 days to drill and evaluate.
Participants in the Kiana-1 well are: Beach Petroleum Ltd (operator) 40%, Great Artesian Oil and Gas Ltd 30% and Magellan Petroleum Australia Ltd 30% ( subject to commercial discovery).
