New alliance to get Australia cooking with gas

A NEW Gas Industry Alliance to develop and grow the use of gas in Australia has been launched at ...

The association yesterday launched the Gas Industry Alliance (GIA), calling it “a new action group” of owners and operators of natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas infrastructure and distribution, appliance and equipment industries.

“The GIA will be the downstream gas industry ‘champion’ promoting the use of gas in the domestic and commercial sectors,” ENA said.

ENA said the alliance aimed to promote the awareness and positive image of gas and facilitate the development of innovative gas appliances and equipment and their use in the Australian market.

It also hoped to provide a “united voice” for all stakeholders in developing and implementing nationally consistent gas industry policy that impacts gas usage, while giving accurate information to consumers, industry and government about the gas industry.

GIA foundation members include the ENA, Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association of Australia, LPG Australia and National Association of Food Equipment Suppliers.
