Output from the North West Shelf Venture’s Cossack-Pioneer vessel and Santos’ Mutineer-Exeter field was halted yesterday as the category one storm passed near Australia’s main oil-producing region. Woodside was also reported to have shut its Legendre oil field.
The shut downs resulted in the loss of about 168,000 barrels of oil per day – or about 43% of Australia’s total oil output.
Bloomberg reported that Woodside expects Cossack-Pioneer to restart production later today and Legendre in the next two days. Resumption of output from Mutineer-Exeter is also expected by the end of this week.
