The winner and runner-up will be announced by the state’s Premier Alan Carpenter at an awards luncheon on October 19.
The Perth-based company, which floated almost a year ago, said it was one of two entries in the final round of judging.
“In a worthy field of inventions, being nominated as a finalist is a great endorsement of our revolutionary technology and its international commercialisation potential,” Coretrack’s chief executive Nanne van ‘t Riet said.
“Coretrack is greatly encouraged that its technology continues to receive solid industry interest as well as accolades such as the being a selected finalist in the WA Inventor of the Year 2007.”
Coretrack owns the locally designed technology known as core barrel capacity gauge or core level indicator (CLI).
It claims the technology will globally challenge the oil and gas sector's traditional core drilling techniques, as it improves the accuracy of taking core samples during drilling and development of oil and gas wells.
It plans to specifically target the coring services sector of the oil and gas sector, onshore and offshore, domestically and internationally.
