Following weather-related delays, the Premium Wilcraft rig finally moved on location and started drilling Dunsborough-2 at 9am (WA time) last Friday, March 21. At 6am today, the rig was recovering the core at a measured depth of 1540m, according to AWE.

"The well has intersected the primary target Dongara Sandstone high to prognosis where

strong oil shows were encountered," the company said.

"A 24-metre core was cut in the reservoir sequence. Following completion of coring activities, the well will be drilled to a planned total depth of approximately 1680 metres where interpretation of logs will help define the forward program."

Dunsborough-2 is about 2km south of the Dunsborough-1 oil and gas discovery. The well is the final well of the three well programme in WA 286 P.

Participants in WA 286 P are: Roc Oil (operator) 37.5%, Arc Energy 30%, AWE 27.5% and CIECO 5%.
