Shale oil visionary Sir Ian McFarlane passes away

SIR Ian McFarlane, instigator of the revolutionary but ultimately ill-fated Queensland oil shale projects at Rundle and then Stuart deposit near Gladstone, has died at the age of 84 after a short battle with cancer. <b>By RICK WILKINSON</b>
