Somerton set for shale, tight gas exploration

SOMERTON Energy is gearing up for a busy second half with plans to drill a shale gas well in the Otway Basin and participate in the fracture stimulation of Wombat-4 at the Wombat tight gas field in the Gippsland Basin.

In its quarterly report, Somerton said the company together with Beach Energy commissioned FrOG Tech to carry out a proprietary study to further assess the shale potential within the onshore Otway
