LNG players shell out for subsea broadband

NEXTGEN Group has won a $100 million contract to provide and operate a 2000km subsea optical fibre cable system for the remote Inpex-operated Ichthys LNG and Shell-operated Prelude floating LNG projects.

With the broadband project starting this month and targeting completion in 2016, Nextgen said the cable system would provide both projects with access to high-speed data and voice communication
