Beach's cautious expansion plans

HAVING wrapped up its takeover of Drillsearch Energy, Beach Energy has been able to post record quarterly production of 2.7 million barrels of oil equivalent and has outlined a plan to spend up to $200 million in the Cooper Basin this year to develop the production of tomorrow, but will have to do so without its chief operating officer Neil Gibbins.

After acting as CEO for the best part of the past year, and working with Beach for almost 20 years, chief operating officer Gibbins advised of his intention to resign from the oiler to pursue other opportunities....
