SA to get hybrid energy park

IRISH firm DP Energy is set to spend almost $700 million on a new 1000 gigawatt hour renewable energy park in South Australia's Port Augusta to help replace the generating capacity from the now-scrapped Northern Power Station and even do something about the electricity price spikes caused by the state's heavy exposure to wind power.

DP has received development approval for the Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park, which once fully built will generate enough power for about 200,000 homes and save 470,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions...
