Crushing closure for ABG

THE purchase of an oil seed crushing facility at Moree in New South Wales – the heartland of Australia’s cotton-growing industry – will allow the Australian Biodiesel Group to process its own feedstocks while making it easier to trial new energy crops, the company said this morning.

Crushing closure for ABG

ABG first announced its intention to purchase the Moree facility from Oleo Industries in June, with the company today announcing the successful completion of the acquisition, valued at $4.5 million in cash and ABG shares.

The oil seed crushing facility includes land, buildings, crushing plant and equipment, which the company said was capable of crushing suitable biofuels feedstocks including cotton, sunflower and canola.

The company said it planned to use the facility to participate in an experimental trial of purpose-cultivated mustard seeds for use in biodiesel production.

ABG this morning told EMN that the mustard seed trial is being managed by a group called Australian Agricultural Commodities, which was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.
