“Metgasco and the Northern Co-op Meat Co have identified an opportunity to assist the meatworks in lowering their overall energy costs while utilising the significant gas resource which has recently been identified by Metgasco in the Casino area,” Metgasco said this morning.

Metgasco holds 100% of PEL16 located near Casino and Lismore in north-east NSW.

The company is appraising the gas production potential of the Walloon Coal Measures in the Clarence Moreton Basin. These coal measures have been the subject of successful exploration and development activity in Queensland over the past four years.

The trial production program comprises five production test wells and one core hole.
