Workshop to promote coal-gas relationships

COAL miners and coal seam methane producers will have a chance to exchange views on current legislation arrangements at a Brisbane workshop in April.

Workshop to promote coal-gas relationships

The workshop is being organised by the Australian Coal Seam Gas Council and the Queensland Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Water, which will present its policy view on the topic.

The aim is to have coal and gas companies at the same table to discuss ways of working together to harvest both coal and coal seam gas.

John Bruce, from gas producer CH4, and Alan Payne, from coal producer AMCI, will present at the workshop to share their experiences about successful partnerships.

Issues to be covered include how an underground miner can maintain the integrity of the coal reserve if coal seam gas is being harvested as well and how miners and gas producers can best work together.

Parties interested in attending should contact the organiser: Hopgood Ganim Lawyers, (07) 3024 0171.
