Sunshine spuds Lacerta-2 CSM well

SUNSHINE Gas this week started drilling at the Lacerta-2 coal seam methane corehole in ATP 795P, located about 5km northwest of Coxon Creek, which lies in the neighbouring ATP 336P permit.

Company secretary Chris Blamey said the well was designed to test the extent, quality and gas content of the Jurassic-aged Walloon coal seams, which had proved to be gas productive in the adjacent ATP 336P area.

Sunshine Gas’ three-well coring program, starting with Lacerta-2, will begin the process of moving part of the 230 billion cubic feet of contingent resources into a reserves category by establishing the Walloon CSM play across ATP 795P.

“If successful, the corehole program will provide a location for a three-to-five well pilot program, to measure the flow capacity of the coal sequence,” Blamey said.
