QUEENSLAND Gas Company and its partners are sitting on about 264 billion cubic feet of 2P (proved and probable) coal seam methane reserves at ATP 651P in the Surat Basin.

Partner AJ Lucas said the independent certification by Netherland, Sewell and Associates followed substantial exploration and appraisal drilling in the permit in the past 12 months.

Proved (1P) reserves were estimated at 24.7Bcf while 3P (proved, probable and possible) reserves were 805.2Bcf.

AJ Lucas added that the joint venture is likely to approve additional exploration expenditure over the next 12 months to further appraise the permit.

Partners in ATP 651 are QGC (68%), BG (17%) and AJ Lucas (15%).
