Shell starts production from giant new Gulf of Mexico field

OIL major Shell has started production from its Appomattox field several months ahead of schedule, opening up a new frontier in the deepwater US Gulf of Mexico.

Shell's latest deepwater project is expected to produce 175,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day at its peak.

 

Shell said its Appomattox floating production platform, which it operates with a 79% interest alongside CNOOC (21%), is expected to produce 175,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
