Timor Sea wells in full swing

Despite the Sleeper-1 well being plugged and abandoned after wireline logs showed no presence of hydrocarbons, oil explorers in the Timor Sea have not been deterred and are continuing on with their drilling programs.

The prospect was said to have a fine grain tight carbonate nature, with no sign of a fractured reservoir, as was evident in the Osprey well, drilled to the north in 1972.

Anadarko Petroleum, operator of AC/P27 where Sleeper-1 was drilled, confirmed that the 'Ocean General' drilling rig will move to nearby AC/P25 (Anadarko earning 75%, Daytona Energy 15%, West Oil earning 10%) to begin drilling Sebring-1 well next week. Sebring has potential reserves of 68 million barrels.

The participants in AC/P26, Anadarko (earning 75%), West Oil (12%) and Daytona Energy (12%), will drill Anson North between April and June this year.

The Altostratus-1 well in TP/17 (Strike Oil 90%, West Oil 10%) is slated for the second quarter of this year.
