Specifically looking at using predrill prediction of fault seal, fracture permeability and optimum drilling trajectories to avoid borehole collapse, Davidson is using the same concept of seismic data analysis that has given parts of the onshore Otway Basin a new lease of life with an oil play concept.
Following completion of the three day course, optional annual support including PSI software, is available.
SYNOPSIS: Plate tectonics only considers horizontal forces, is regional, and inadequately accounts for the global stress map. Well log and drilling data are not the answer to prospect/field scale stress prediction, because these data are only at points, post-drill. PSI's Plate Tectonics Plus, (pt+), also includes vertical forces and gives a 3D presentation of stresses over a prospect/field from existing seismic, PRE-DRILL.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Exploration Geologists: Fault seal prediction; Geophysicists: Apply structural integrity to stress consistent seismic interpretation; Petrophysicists: Bridge the matrix-fracture permeability gap/detailed stress directions from image logs; Drilling Engineers: Stress-based well planning to reduce wellbore instability; Reservoir Engineers and CBM: Fracture permeability prediction and Managers: Better assess risk and rank prospects, and increase recovery factors.
The course runs on Sydney April 9 - 11, Adelaide May 7 - 9, Canberra May 12 - 14, Brisbane May 28 - 30, Perth June 11 - 13, Melbourne June 16 - 18.
