Myall Creek fire extinguished

Oil Company of Australia has said the Myall Creek well blowout has been controlled and the resultant fire put out.

The fire has been burning since April 7 when it blew out with the loss of one life and two other injuries. The rig belonged to Century Resources.

OCA said the well had been capped and was now under control.

The company brought in US experts, Cudd Well Control, who shipped in specialist well capping equipment.

OCA said the investigation to determine the cause of the incident was continuing
