IDT-9 ST2 is being drilled by Parker Rig 226 which is re-entering and sidetracking from an existing shut-in well, IDT-9 ST1.

This well produced oil for a number of years from a separate fault block before watering out in 2001, when the well was shut-in.

The extension has the potential of delineating up to 60 million barrels of oil-in-place in the Toro and Iagifu sandstones, with approximately 6 million barrels recoverable from this well.

The company said should hydrocarbons be intersected by IDT-9 ST2, the well could be immediately tied into the central processing facility for production testing using the existing flowline.

Interests are Oil Search 72.0%, operator, ExxonMobil 14.5%, Petroleum Resources (Kutubu) Ltd 6.7%, Merlin Petroleum 6.8%.
