Mud logs had indicated oil shows in the Cadna-Owie Formation (Wyandra sandstone member), the Murta sandstone member and the Westbourne Formation. The primary objective in the well is the Birkhead Formation.

Although further minor oil shows were indicated in the Birkhead Formation, logging failed to indicate moveable oil. The rig, ODE 34, will now move on to the next well in the program, Mulberry 1.

The well was located in the Cooper/Eromanga Basin, 2.5km south of the Gimboola oil facility and some 126km north/east of Jackson oil facility.

The partners have already cased the Talgeberry 8 development well as a future producer after establishing commercial oil reserves in the Murta sandstone.

Interests in the well include Santos (operator) 89%, Drillsearch Energy 10% and CPC Energy 1%.
