Located 5.5km east of the Hovea (another plant) Production Facility and approximately midway between the Xyris and Mondarra gas fields the well is being drilled directionally to avoid clearing native vegetation at the vertical well location. The target bottom hole location is approximately 485m southeast of the surface location.

The depth to the prognosed top of the primary objective Dongara Sandstone is around 2,800m with the proposed total depth of the well being 2,925 metres.

Agonis-1 follows the successful drilling of Apium-1 which flowed gas to surface at varying pressures and rates. No separator was utilised for the cleanup flow and consequently flow rates were unable to be accurately determined, however, operator Arc said rates were visually estimated at up to 4 mmcfd through a 12/64 inch choke and the well was still unloading fluid at the completion of the flow period.

Participants in L1 and L2 (excluding the Dongara, Mondarra and Yardarino fields)

and Agonis 1 are Origin Energy Developments 50% and ARC Energy (Operator) 50%.
