The Bambra East-3 long-reach development well is being drilled from the previously abandoned Bambra-6 well on the Harriet Bravo Platform, about 3.9km south-southeast of the field.

The well, designed to exploit the gas column in the Bambra East Field, is expected to begin gas production in early September.

Co-venturer Tap Oil said that as of this morning, drilling had reached 1024m and would continue to a total depth of 4687m.

Before this well, Apache as operator was completing the Bambra-8H-L1 well, which is expected to produce gas at 25-30 million cubic feet per day and oil production expected to follow.

Production from the two well bores is expected to begin on the weekend.
