PETSEC Energy is revisiting the Moonshine project in onshore Louisiana, with the announcement the joint venture has started drilling the Virginia Geason-1 well.
Spudded on Monday, the well is expected to take three weeks to reach a total depth of 11,513 feet (3510m) and is a test of the George Dickel prospect.
Virginia Geason-1 is northwest of the Skywagon prospect, which was drilled and deemed sub-commercial last May.
Moonshine is Petsec’s first significant onshore US exploration program. The company is operator and holds an 80% working interest (58.4% revenue interest) in the joint venture area.
