Strike spuds next Rayburn well

TEXAS Gulf Coast producer Strike Oil has started drilling the next well at its Rayburn project, while reporting that the Duncan well continues to produce at stabilised daily rates of 10 million cubic feet of gas and 260 barrels of condensate.

Strike spuds next Rayburn well

Spudded on the weekend, the Hlavinka-Duncan 1R well is a dual objective well and had yesterday reached a depth of 690m. Total depth is planned for 3855m.

The company will evaluate both the new substantial gas show penetrated in the initial Hlavinka-Duncan 1 well in the Cook Mountain Formation and the deeper primary objective Middle Wilcox gas pay zones penetrated in Duncan 1, Duncan 2 and Gilbert Freeman 1 wells.

The well is about 91m south-southeast of the original well and 2957m northeast of the Duncan-1 well, which has continued to produce at the same strong rates as when it was brought online last month.

“The continued substantial stabilised flow rate of gas and condensate from the Duncan 1 well must rank it with some of the highest rate wells which an Australian company has participated in onshore US,” Strike managing director Simon Ashton said.

“Now the fourth well has commenced, and the second and third wells are to

commence testing soon, we are well underway to substantially increasing revenues.”

In addition, Strike said the Duncan-2 and Gilbert Freeman-1 wells were on track to be tied into production facilities next month.
