Exxon resumes Alaskan play after legal battle

EXXONMOBIL has resumed drilling in the high-pressure Point Thompson gas-condensate field on Alaska's North Slope which can partially underpin the proposed Alaska LNG project, after years of legal squabbling with the state of Alaska over its lack of activity on the leasehold.

The project, which also involves Chevron, ConocoPhillips and Leede, was given the green light in 2012 after a seven-year legal battle with Alaska, and Exxon now says it will be online by next year. ...
