WOODSIDE Petroleum’s Ferrand-1A well will use a new subsea wellhead foundation method for the first time in Australian waters, to be supplied by Perth-based Icon Engineering and Norway’s Neodrill for the first time.

The pair has won the contract to support drilling of the Ferrand prospect, and will supply and install the Neodrill's patented suction-based Conductor Anchor Node, the CAN-ductor, as a cost-saving
