Conference tackles power generation emissions problems

AUSTRALIAN organisation COAL21 is running its first ever conference in April focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from coal in electricity generation.

To be held April 5-6 in Sydney, the conference will cover a range of topics related to advances in greenhouse gas reduction and new technologies. Industry and government representatives will address topics IGCC technology and the FutureGen project.

Several international speakers will discuss greenhouse gas projects in US, Japan and Europe.

Other sessions will cover developments in power generation; research and development programs and improving collaboration; and perspectives on policy.

Executive director of Australian Coal Association Mark O’Neill will lead the final panel discussion on “Electricity generation in 2050 and how we got there.”
