AUSTRALIA’s peak science body has discovered a diverse range of tiny aquatic animals known as stygofauna in Northern Territory aquifers and is urging for careful policy and management response to the industry’s plans in the Beetaloo Sub-basin.

The joint study by the CSIRO and Charles Darwin University used fishing rods, water pumps and cutting-edge eDNA analysis to plumb the depths of underground aquifers, revealing a wide array of
