ESG gets approval for new Gunnedah Basin seismic shoot

The NSW's Minister for Mineral Resources has approved Eastern Star Gas' Pilligia East Seismic Survey application this week.

The survey will involve the acquisition of 35km of new seismic data over the Bohena Gas Field to determine the size of the field as well as aid in the planning of an upcoming drilling program. The Bohena field is located some 27km southwest of Narrabri in New South Wales.

ESG said during the past three years, nine coal seam methane wells have been drilled in the area with conventionally reservoired gas found in four of these wells. However, trap size and definition could not be determined due to the lack of seismic control. ESG said it believes potential gas reserves could be significant.
